To lower your risk of stroke you should:

- Have a medical check up to see if you have arterial fibrillation
- Stop smoking
- Stop drinking alcohol (or just drink in moderation or socially)
- Monitor your cholesterol level
- Find out if you suffer from diabetes
- Exercise daily
- Reduce salt and fat in your diet
- Have a medical check up to see if your blood circulation is good, and
- Know the symptoms of the ailment.
