What is self-hypnosis?

Self-hypnosis basically consists of writing or adapting a script to induce hypnosis, recording the script and playing the tape to become hypnotized.  The person is alone all throughout the hypnosis and is in control of all suggestions made during the trance.

What does it feel like to be hypnotized?

During hypnosis, a person will feel deeply relaxed and calm and fully aware of everything around including all the physical sensation and even sounds one will not normally be aware of.  It is a pleasant and tranquil experience.

Will a patient/client fall asleep during hypnosis?

No, the patient/client will just be very relaxed and his awareness heightened.  He may feel as if he has fallen asleep although in actual fact he has just been hypnotized in the session.

Can children undergo hypnotherapy?

Yes, children from age six and above can undergo hypnotherapy provided they have good attention span.

Are there any side effects of hypnotherapy?

Experiments have been done to determine any side effects of hypnotherapy.  Some patients/clients have complained of headache, stiff neck, drowsiness, confusion, dizziness and anxiety.  However, most of these side effects cleared up within several hours of the hypnotherapy session.
