Fertility Charting

Fertility charting involves observing and recording fertility signs so that a daily fertility status is readily seen and the most fertile time is identified.  The body provides the clues or signs that would indicate the fertility status throughout the cycle.  Charting one’s fertility helps to identify the best time for intercourse to get pregnant.  This is very important since there are only a few days each cycle when conception is possible.  While the usual fertile days of a woman are mid-cycle, each woman still has her own fertility pattern unique from others.

The primary fertility signs are the basal body temperature (BBT) and the cervical fluid.  The basal body temperature increases after ovulation because of increased progesterone in the blood stream.  Cervical fluid, also called cervical mucous is the fluid produced by the cervix that can be seen and felt in or outside the vagina.  It changes throughout the cycle depending on the fertility status.

Optional fertility signs include observations of the position, texture and opening of the cervix, results from tests and devices and other personal observations associated with fertility.  Recording fertility signs provide important information in a graph.  A woman would get to understand the signs being offered by her body within a cycle or two of charting them.
