The Dreaded Complications
Diabetes mellitus has several long-term complications. The kidneys of patients with DM are the most severely damaged organ, and most often, renal failure is a cause of death. Patients also exhibit eye problems like blurring of vision, cataract formation, glaucoma and even blindness. Diabetic neuropathy is also one complication affecting the motor and sensory nerves of the feet, oftentimes causing nonhealing wounds that lead to ulcerations and amputations.
